City Requirements
Remodeling Permits on Mercer Island
The City of Mercer Island’s Community Planning & Development department handles permits for the island. Unlike some nearby cities that rely on Washington State Labor & Industries, Mercer Island issues its own single-family electrical permits, which are applied for online through MyBuildingPermit.com.
Removing a tree that requires a permit without the City’s approval is a code violation. For trees on private property, the City’s Land Use and Planning Division can be reached at (206) 275-7605. CHC Remodel confirms which permits apply during planning.
Construction Hours
Construction hours are set by the City: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, with no work on Sundays or holidays.
